ABOUT RSWA AND OUR MISSION
The Royal Society of Western Australia (RSWA) is the premier scientific society Established in 1914 and inspired by the Royal Society of London, the society’s patron is King Charles III, while the Vice Patrons are currently the Governor of Western Australia, the Honourable Kerry Sanderson AC, and Professor Lyn Beazley AO FAA FTSE, former Chief Scientist of Western Australia from 2006 to 2013.
The RSWA promotes interdisciplinary exchange and supports science through various activities such as publications, meetings, symposia, and events. It also acknowledges exceptional scientific achievements by awarding several prizes including the John Glover Student Research Support Grants. The Journal of the Royal Society of Western Australia is the foundation of the society, featuring peer-reviewed research and reviews focused on local science, including anthropology and archaeology. The society also arranges a series of talks, symposia, and excursions throughout the year, offering opportunities for students to present their work and win prizes. The RSWA has a library at the Western Australia Museum available for public research.
